A Modern Beach Home
by Doce Design Studio
A beautiful retreat. A piece of art. This home was born as an investigation of what is to live slowly. To take your surroundings in and becoming one with nature. Every angled wall, every door and window, each has been carefully selected in order to maximize one thing: peace.
But how do we achieve peace through architecture? By being thoughtful of the livable space.
Angled walls allow for protection from harsh environmental conditions, but they also allow natural ventilation to flow both from the east and the west at just the right height. Bedrooms located on opposite ends of the dwelling create perfect conditions for privacy when inhabiting them, but they also encourage social interaction by allowing its users to engage within the common areas (kitchen, dining, wooden terrace).

Entrance to Beach Apartment

The design process began with a single mass.
We push the front face of the volume in order to start accomodating exterior terraces and social areas.
We frame the front face of the volume in order to protect the structure from harsh environmental conditions, mainly direct sunlight.
We create diagonal cuts on the side of the frame. This is done in order to allow for natural ventilation to flow through the project, while still protecting from natural conditions.
Diagonal cuts on both sides also allow for maximum visibility of beach surrounding.
